I don't want to be the first to say it...but Winter's coming!

Better get those outside taps drained and shut off before a line freezes and breaks. Then you'll have a seriously wet basement. What am I saying after all this rain? Hope your sump pump is in tip top shape!

One thing you should never do in the shower!

There's lots of things you can or should do! But hanging a shower caddy from the shower head is one of the biggest errors! Take everything off your caddy and put it on your bathroom scale....weighs more then 1 pound I bet. Shower heads and their connections are not made to withstand weight at any time let alone over a long period of time. The next thing you'll notice is water damage to your drywall, behind your tub etc. because the connection came loose and now you have a much BIGGER problem!

Sunday 16 October 2011

Now THAT is a new kind of tap!

Question is - How do you turn it on!  Ask Aussie he'll figure it out!

Flooded basement? Rain Rain Go away!

A sump pump is usually an electric pump that is placed in the basement of a home, and used to pump water from the basement to outside the home.
But one of the biggest errors on homeowners part is the absent emergency power back up system.
Hydro goes out - still raining? No power - sump pump not working - FLOODED basement. You get the picture.
Ask Aussie about installing a emergency power back up system for your sump pump today!

Thanksgiving is over - Does that mean winter is almost here? Protect Your Pipes!

Live in an area that reaches freezing temperatures during the winter puts your plumbing at risk for freezing pipes and crystallized water. Here are some easy tips that can greatly lower the chance of plumbing problems during those cold winter days.
Insulate your exposed pipes! These include your garage or basement. A layer of insulation, either by pipe insulation, rags, or newspaper, will provide protection for those unprotected pipes.
If you know that a hard freeze is in the near future, leave your faucets trickling! It may sound a bit wasteful, but it makes all the difference. Doing this helps to halt any water in your pipes from freezing and clogging with icy blocks.
Keep the cabinet doors under your sink open! This allows the warmth of your home to flow around the pipes, keeping them from freezing.

Clogged Drain? Garborator plugged?

All that turkey grease clogging up your kitchen drain? Water moving slow out of the sink?
